A new/old CD...Now I love Bowie, but how many CD's can you have with the same songs?  Just asking! And most likely...being the Bowie dork I am...I will eventually go buy it! Check out the article...was 1978 a LONG time ago? Giggle And secret I never liked Fame or Golden Years...

1978 was a long time ago.

Who today would have the balls to make an album like ‘Stage’? Who would be as willing to reimagine some of their biggest hits in the way Bowie does? Massive, crowd pleasers like ‘Fame’, ‘Five Years’ and ‘Stay’ are either pitched down so hard you can hear the bones of the song creaking, or seen anew through the prism of a burgeoning avant-garde bent. At no point does Bowie simply kneel before the audience’s open fly with his songbook-sized mouth open and make it easy for them. So ‘Star’ is followed by ‘Hang On To Yourself’, which is followed by ‘Ziggy Stardust’ – featuring, naturally, a string ensemble where Mick Ronson’s brutalist guitar used to be – well, you know how much those ’70s US rock crowds loved a cello! Just as the audience is about to reach giddy satisfaction, Bowie hits them with the double whammy of ‘Art Decade’, an instrumental more suited to promoting good working conditions in a Korean lift factory and an unlistenably atonal ‘Alabama Song’. Brilliant. Modern pop types, that noise you can hear is a 27-year-old gauntlet hitting the floor. Rob Fitzpatrick

Something to giggle at at least!

Ok so I couldn't stand it any longer I had to get The Life Aquatic soundtrack, I could no longer resist hearing David Bowie's songs in Portuguese!

Giggle...the funny thing, I could sing right along with it in English knowing every word! It was wild and worth getting just for the giggle!

Ah Finished

Yesterday I finished the weaving on my book...have to find large enough beads and charms to put on the ends. But no fail there, I will take a walk to Global Beads and find perfect ones!

I started to write in the journal today...and the excerpt is of course about Bowie...why? Because my brain has been OBSESSED about him in my dreams lately! Gah... So I put those pages in the Woven book album too!

I did find out on the first page NOT to use the Sharpie Ultra-fine pens because it bleeds through the paper! Of course on a really cool page too! The other side had some great drawings...obliterated now!

Dream Obsessed

I have been having a Dream Fest with Bowie lately...every dream has him in it...this last one I was in an overgrown castle while he sang to me...

So I had to add it to my Glue Book Journal...and maybe I will work out what ever it is I am trying to work out...or it is the meds I am on! Giggle  Some wild dreams though.

What Happen on This Day:

In 1972, Mott the Hoople decided to disband after four albums, until David Bowie presented them a song called "All the Young Dudes." Mott the Hoople recorded it, while Bowie produced it, and the song hit the Top 40.

Also in 1980, Pink Floyd's "The Wall" broke the record for the longest-charting pop album, previously held by Carole King's "Tapestry."

In 1986, Guns N' Roses was signed to Geffen Records.

A Genius ...

As foul and as brass as Boy George is, which some how always makes me smile in a bad girl kinda way, I have to agree with him on:

Who for you was the most important artist of our time?

David Bowie. He was just everything for me. He was and still is so important. He is a genius.

H e l l o ! Reality Check

All I can say is Duh! (glad this guy figured it out! LOL)

Giggling

I have to tell you I have had a good laugh with this review of David Bowie's, Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

I am happy however, that this senior in High School found Bowie! I fell in love with David when I bought the vinyl in 1972! I was young...not in High school yet, I was in 5th grade, and I am just grinning because it is still attracting people!

When I was listening to him, believe me, he was not popular! I was tortured by people around me who did not get it...and were phobic of bi-sexuals or gay people. It was the time of the title Fag-Hag...yup that was me! I never changed who I was, I refused the pressure of the norm, I was unique! *grin I loved Bowie and I continued to listen to him! Now when I see some of the people who tortured me as a child, they now say, you were right all along! Humf! Duh! The man is pure talent! And a smart business man! Not to mention Yummy!

Bowie Alert

This little trivia tid-bit came across my Google Alert on David. I have not seen the *The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou*

David Bowie yelps in the first mega-soundtrack blast of Wes Anderson's painstaking, pain-writ comedy The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, a howl encapsulating the traumatized trip to come. No dance halls here, actually, but a roiling, elliptical comic ship of souls at ebb tide. Jump to a bit later: "It's very lifelike," Ned (Owen Wilson) says, regarding a crude, impressionistic oil rendering of a man who may be his father.

The could-be pater is Steve Zissou (Bill Murray), pop oceanographer and maker of documentaries on undersea life. As Life Aquatic commences, Steve's latest work, which depicts his best friend being eaten by an unseen "jaguar shark," is badly received. At the post-screening Q&A, Steve vows revenge. Ned emerges from the murky past to claim something, feeling out a bond that's thus far consisted of two letters and numerous distant denials.

Before long, he joins Steve and his crew – among them a tender German second hand (an uproarious Willem Dafoe), an Australian radarman (Noah Taylor), and a Brazilian safety expert (Seu Jorge) who plays Bowie tunes in Portuguese – on their blackout-prone ship, Belafonte. Many critics, or at least some of the arch jargon-slingers, think Anderson has finally gone too far into his own whizzing head. Don't believe it. Seemingly spiky and assured at first, Anderson's meanings multiply and shift, some hiding in plain sight, and the whole film tends to change emotional speeds on subsequent viewings. David Bowie Update

Hum...an article about Bowie not doing any concerts this year! Well, I hope not! I love him and want him well...not on the road where he is not taking care of himself!

...But as they say on those game show things, we’re not going to send you away empty-handed. The lovely people at Universal Music are releasing a DVD of the charismatic performer on February 7, and it features an early promo film he made in 1968 while he was at Decca.

Love You Till Tuesday includes the original version of Bowie’s massive debut hit Space Oddity, as well as many rare gems including When I Live My Dream and Rubber Band.

You can also expect a bonus DVD featuring songs such as Threepenny Pierrot and Columbine that Bowie performed for a Scottish TV’s The Looking Glass Murders in 1970.

Invest in this and soon you'll find that what you don't know about the legendary singer probably isn't worth knowing.      (Now who is this Zoe person, I think they need to be slapped! ... not worth knowing!? humf!)

But I am clapping...today after work...I will be off to Tower Records! Time for a new release Bowie! YUM! The original release of Space Oddity was acoustic...humm...there is most likely no song on the new cd that I haven't heard, that my dears is not the point! : )
