In 1972, Mott the Hoople decided to disband after four albums, until David Bowie presented them a song called "All the Young Dudes." Mott the Hoople recorded it, while Bowie produced it, and the song hit the Top 40.

Also in 1980, Pink Floyd's "The Wall" broke the record for the longest-charting pop album, previously held by Carole King's "Tapestry."

In 1986, Guns N' Roses was signed to Geffen Records.

Talk about eye candy and getting distracted! But Kathy, the owner, always has world music going in the store, and I love the experience as I am trying to figure out how I am going to afford what I am gathering in my tiny little ice trays! *grin* The store is 5000 sq. ft of beads

So I am walking around one more time and see the CDs and think, hum I really am in the mood for something a little different, so I go by my gut and the way the CD looks, this is a beautiful cover, and since I did that Empress Tarot Cards with all the pomogranets, this symbol called to me from the cover. I have been listening to it and it is soft and different and really kind of spiritual. What a fun CD! Glad I got it. She uses her voice like an instrument. Apparently this is a remix of the original CD from 1990. Who knew? But I do like it.

David Bowie Surgery?

Oh Horror! I simply CAN NOT take this! This is just to frightening! I thought it was just a pinched nerve!!! He had better start taking care of himself for me! This is so personal! Doesn't he know what he is doing to me?

I can imagin that Iman and Alexandra were under some stress...I wish him and his family ONLY good things and an easy time recovering! Oh it has not been a good month for me...nor him it seems!

It truly has to be bizaar to him that strangers like me SO LOVE him and think about him...and care about him and his family!

I hope he will recover well, go home and enjoy his family and heal! He is such a fun entertainer and I so admire him...I have had a great time with his art and music for so many years! Get well soon David! Your fans will miss you.

David Bowie Hit in the Eye with Lollypop!

I forgot to talk about this yesterday! That really made me mad! Why would any one throw things at my David?! Grr...I felt like the lion in the wizard of oz, "put 'em up, put 'em up!" Glad I wasn't in the audience! I am fiercely loyal to people that I love!

Ouch! 'Love on a stick' can be painful
OSLO, Norway (AP) -- Halfway through his third song at a Norwegian music festival, an object came flying out of the crowd and hit David Bowie in the eye. It was a lollipop, probably sent as a message of adoration since Norwegians call the hard candy "love on a stick." Bowie wasn't seriously injured at Friday's Norwegian Wood Festival in Oslo. He backed off the runway, hunched over, and was assisted by his set crew. Within moments, he was facing the crowd of 7,500. Swearing at the unknown culprit, Bowie said he only had one good eye. The other eye had been damaged in a childhood fight.

"Lucky you hit the bad one," Bowie said, demanding to know who threw the lollipop. No one standing in the cold and drizzle came forward. Bowie grumbled about the person or persons responsible hiding in the crowd. Then, regaining his composure and sense of humor, the 57-year-old singer said he was going to punish the audience by making the concert extra-long.

Later, during what the Norwegian media called one of his best concerts ever, Bowie continued to joke about the incident. He threw one of his guitar picks into the crowd, then asked if he'd hit someone in the eye. "Oh, maybe I have to hide in the band," he joked.

Norwegian newspapers tracked down a young woman who claimed to be behind the mishap. They didn't publish her name, but said she claimed it was an accident. The artist's official Web site said the eye was checked and wasn't seriously injured. As for Bowie, he played 27 songs over nearly two hours and 20 minutes.

Ray Charles

Jerry Wexler, a producer and former vice president of Atlantic Records, described Charles as taking the "music of the church [and putting] the devil's words to it." The influence of Charles' trademark rasp is undoubtedly heard in the singing styles of Van Morrison and Joe Cocker. In the 1960s, the Beatles, the Who, the Animals and other bands of the British Invasion worshipped him, but simply copying his style was a losing proposition given that true soul just can't be knocked off so easily. Charles died at 11:35 a.m. (2:35 p.m. ET), in Beverly Hills, California, his publicist said. The cause was of complications from liver disease.

Charles was a towering figure in pop music history. The term "genius" came from Frank Sinatra -- no slouch in the singing department himself -- and others called him "the greatest pop singer of his generation" and "a true American musical original."

We certainly are losing a lot of one of a kind people lately, usually it seems like the famous die in three's...

I will just try to be grateful that we knew them for a time.

Bowie 40 Years of the Voice that most matters to Me!

From BowieNet Yesterday - June 5, 2004 - Oh yeah, I love her, little Liza Jane...We mentioned this one back on new year's day with the unbelievable news that David Bowie today celebrates forty years as a professional recording artist.

HAPPY 2004 AND CONGRATS TO David Bowie FOR HIS 40TH YEAR of recording! For it was on this day, June 5th 1964, that Vocalion Pop released a 45 with the catalogue number: V.9221. Liza Jane/Louie, Louie Go Home, issued as Davie Jones with The King-Bees, was that record. David's first ever release was pretty well ignored by the pop-pickers of 1964, but these days you'd be lucky to find a copy of that original release with a price tag under four figures. One thing that is often overlooked in these looks back at this historically important release, (something I'm sure Andy isn't guilty of) is just what a cracking record Liza Jane is... Not to mention the flip: Louie, Louie Go Home, which employed the "Just a little bit louder now, Just a little bit louder now" call and response device favoured on She'll Drive The Big Car from David's most recent album release. Anyway, I won't go on about the record, I'll leave that for the spotters who know more than I. Suffice to say, congratulations and many thanx to David, and if you've got the recording to hand, dear reader, why not give it a celebratory spin right now!

I am such a Happy girl that David decided to record his music~I love the new stuff he is coming out with and when I saw him in January I was so happy to hear him, he had so much fun with us his fans! He is so much more relaxed and he can now have spontaneous fun on the stage! Still he mezmerizes me...still I watch his every move...and still I know he is a stranger to me...but I still love him! :-) He is "my" Elvis! Boy I bet I just pissed some people off saying that! LOL But it is true for me! LOL
