Altered Cabinet Card Super Hero Swap

I was in a Swap in FreakWerks SO nervous! These are major artists! But I am finally after several mock ups happy with my unconventional Super Hero!

Here were the instructions: Based on this idea by Alex Gross: http://www.alexgross.com/mixed-media/index.html Find a vintage cabinet card. These can be found at antique stores, or on eBay. Make sure it's a cabinet card, and not the smaller carte de visite, trading card size. Cabinet cards usually measure about 4¼ by 6½ inches. Please use a REAL cabinet card, and not something printed from the internetz. Alter your card to turn the figure into a super hero. These can be modelled after comic or graphic novel super heroes, or made up. Please be sure to include somewhere on the card, front or back, your name, and the name of your super hero.

Mini Mars Surprise!

Whew! That is a heck of a drive for one day turn around! Had a flipping blast!!! My Mizz Lindsay Waltman-Ostrom pulled off the biggest surprise ever!!!! She worked with Mizz Rena Veerkamp Askey to also come with Mizz Vicci Henderson to have a meet up with me at the before MARS party!!!

I have wanted to meet these two for YEARS!!!! I cried like a howling baby!!! Screams of delight!!!!! AND lots of jumping up and down!!!! Literally the ugly cry!  I think WGB saw how crazy I really am!!! I could NOT believe they kept it all a secret!!!! I felt like Ophra with a surprise headache!!!! It was flipping awesome!!! Photos and a hella funny video to follow! What a fantastic day!!!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Most importantly each one of these fantastic artist women friends means the world to me. They feed my soul, they understand me, they love me and I love them!

It was a Beach Day...

We decided to run away to Half Moon Bay, stopped and walked around the Ritz which made me VERY uncomfortable...I don't like rich snooty people and felt very out of place! Then we went to my fav restaurant Miramar...had a lovely lunch looking at the water and my WGB!  I even had to take a nap after we got back! LOL

Rocking the vote

Light surrounds me...Even when I don't feel it, apparently it does surround me! What a whacky photo! Maybe an ancestor is protecting me?  I thought it was such a wild photo I had to share it!

Today I made sure to rock the vote! I forgot all about voting I was in my garden in a house dress when WGB said HEY we have to vote! So off we walked to vote...and of course we saw at least THREE people we know! damn it when will I learn I can't leave the house looking like shit?! LOL But at least I voted! And even the small walk was agony with the swelling.

I was so excited today! My new travel paints came along with my 24 pan watercolor!!!! Yeah MORE colors!

Extended play on Dreams

I got to the class a little early to go over to store and buy some supplies! WOWZER do I love the store! Lots of fun things for this journal progress including some of the items that Teesha recommends! SO MUCH FUN!  The only issue I had today was how long it took for lunch...I was dying by the time it got there and I still am a little sick.

But what a GREAT day!!!

I was so happy to get a photo with Teesha and Tracy, and Tracy said "You don't want ME in the photo!" I was like "Yes I do!!! This is a dream come true for me!" It was so much fun seeing all the art going on, it was like electric waves happening in the room! AH-MAZING! And I was delighted to get some photos with Sharen, Cindy and to just see every one playing!

I am going to have to save my pennies and get to their retreats soon!

A dream came true today!

One of my dreams has been to Meet and work with Teesha and Tracy Moore! I am so excited I can't stand it...I can barely think of sleeping tonight! All the images of journaling are snug in my head! Snort! In MY area the Masters of Illustrated Journaling are here! They are lovely people and so awesome in sharing their skills and talent and enouraging us to move through their process and come out the other end with our own journals!

The class was REALLY large! So many fantastic artists in the crowd!  AND some of my friends attended!!!! Yeah for friends and even a Flickr Meet up!!!! I got to play with Coffeelatte who sat across from me!!! Yippee! Fantastic time was had! DELIGHTFUL! Loretta and Sharen were in the class too! Traci Bautista came and sat at my table too! What a great class! The last photo is one of Teesha's pages! Some thing to raise the bar to! ART HEADACHE!!!!! So exciting!

  

SoManyIdeas my friend on Flickr told me she was channeling Lucy this morning...

 

WOW what an honor to have her thinking of Lucy...fantastic SMI! Thank you for blessing me today by telling me this, Lucy would feel so honored!!! I was SO lucky to meet SMI on line! She did me a great thing, I commissioned her for a Mermaid painting to give to Lucy, Lucy received it the day she found out about how her cancer was going...I was SO grateful she got that painting ON that day, she needed it so much!
