I held a Jewel in my fingers
And went to sleep
The day was warm, and the winds were prosy
I said "Twill keep"
I woke and chid my honest fingers
The Gem was gone
And now, and Amethyst remembrance
Is all I own
"I Held a Jewel in my Fingers" by Emily Dickinson(1830-1886)
This poem is printed on parchment paper and sealed on the purple paper crown that tops my shadowbox mixed media piece.
The shadowbox is made from a paper mache box that is covered in marblized paper coated with a shiny arcylic gel medium. Inside are 2 of my original photographs including my version of Shakespeare's Ophelia and a dancing faerie wearing lavender. The inside of the box is coated with german glass glitter and the frame of the box is covered in tulle fabric.
The purple crown is also embellished with rhinestones, glitter, images from my original paintings and is topped by a feather coated in german glass glitter. This piece measures 21 inches tall by 7 and 1/2 inches wide and is 3 and 1/4 inches thick. It comes ready to hang with a saw tooth hanger on the back.
