Today I went to the Santa Clara Mission celebrating the Rivas family history at the Santa Clara Mission.
Today we learned a little more than we did last time in San Francisco. Gene, David and Lucy went to Mexico this year to celebrate the 100 years of the murals! That is fantastic! So much history! This presentation was more well put together and always fascinating!
BOTH of Lucy's sisters were able to come this time! Only missing her brother! I would love to meet him! It was a fantastic day, to be able to see her! I am so happy! She looks great! You would never know she just had surgery!
Here are the photos of the day!
A little info on the Mission: The first mission to be christened after a woman, St. Clare of Assisi, Mission Santa Clara has occupied five different locations. The first proved to be too close to the Guadalupe River. The second site was temporary, until the third site could be found and blessed by Padre Serra himself. A severe earthquake in 1818 forced construction of another temporary church until the fifth and present site was found and construction begun in 1822. The mission became California's first college in 1851. In 1926, fire razed the entire mission structure and was rebuilt in 1928 as part of the Santa Clara University campus.
