Flu

Yup...yuck...flu. I wish my vacation would be better than this! How the hell am I supposed to celebrate when I feel like this?

I was able to catch up with email, and a few blogs. It was nice hearing from Mija, and that she invited me to do a swap with her...she is hosting a formica tag swap in the theme of Eyes are the window to the soul! And an accordian book with the them of spirituality! It is supposed to be the size of an ATC. I am for sure going to do the tags...not sure of the book yet. After looking at the directions I may be able to do this one...and it would be interesting using watercolor paper that I did already...that would be fun! Have to find out more about it though.

Home Sick

This really sucks...I am home sick...AND the trip was cancelled...AND I am totally feeling sorry for myself! this really sucks!

Sigh

So just not feeling good, don't know if it is the stress or the flu. Either way it sucks! Today went by really slow...although I am making progress on the darn database, I still suck at math and I am now at the point of doing math! Gag me! I got one column to add up...the others...nope.

I hate to think of it, but I keep getting twinges in my leg...and back...sigh

Teaching and Friends

Oh! Today was a good day! I got off work an hour early, and drove to my friend Loretta's house so I could do the second phaze of crazy quilting teaching...ah, the embellishment! The part I LOVE to do!

So tonight I tought them 4 basic stitches and I thought that was moving! from about 6-8:30 so that was good I thought! I left them with their goodie bags and another meeting scheduled for next month to work on more skills and add the beading and charms! This is so much fun!

I haven't played in fabric in a long time or embroidered...so this is great for me!  And I really enjoy their company! This is a lot of fun sharing each others talents! I was also able to give Sharen her AB book back with my contribution, and she liked it!! Whew!

Art & Soul Girls

Well, it was a very cool day today in my area and very nice in Santa Cruz. Beth who was in my Michael class in Art & Soul got us organized and together today! AND who is my online stalker! : )

Fun! My truck has decided to have brake problems and I wasn't in the mood for a wild toad ride on Highway 17, so my Michael was so sweet and drove me to Santa Cruz and spent the day by himself while I had about 4-5 hours with drooling art!

Beth is hiding behind the lady explaining her shrine here. This is Bev here. And Cecilia is the lady on the very left here. These are the ONLY photos I have because I was a dork and so excited being there that I forgot to take photos! Lucy Lee came too!

We shared art, food, laughter and sadness! That is what the journey is all about! I enjoyed the eye candy, the techniques and the art! Cecilia gave us each a book to use as our technique altered book! Beth gave us each a cigar box with goodies inside! wow! unexpected fun!

Cecilia hosted the get together and she has a beautiful house and I was not prepared to see her studio! OH MY GAWD! And her art is amazing! I am not going to try to describe it because I will not do it justice! I will hope for another opportunity to take photos!

AND Beth suggested CLEAR gesso for my canvas collage that I don't like, I think I don't like how shiny it is, and the CLEAR gesso has some texture to it and will tone it down! WHO knew there was CLEAR gesso???? Oh my gawd! I have to run and get some NOW! Giggle...ok not now, the stores are closed but tomorrow! Snort!

Brian Froud to Illustrate "Peter Pan in Scarlet"

Brian Froud has been selected to be the illustrator for the Peter Pan sequel, Peter Pan in Scarlet by Geraldine McCraughrean (Oxford University Press / Simon & Schuster/McElderry). Brian will supply the cover art and interior black and white illustrations. The book will be printed in 23 languages and the initial print run will be 250,000 copies, for a worldwide publication date of Oct. 5th, 2006.

As Froudians know, this a major departure for Brian, who has not illustrated a book not his own for many years. But the opportunity to interpret arguably the most famous faery character of all time proved irresistible. In addition to this, what truly won Brian over was the exceptional story created by Geraldine McCraughrean, who captured the singular tone of JM Barrie’s original while imbuing a modern sensibility to the tale. We will be bringing you further updates and sneak previews on this historic book as the date of publication nears.
