Ah...fake it till you make it. I was determined to be my happy self...out with my girls from work...ignoring the huge white elephant in the middle of the room! My drama. Thank gawd or I would have lost the facade!
Beach Blanket Babylon! San Francisco on a day where it felt like the high 70s almost 80s!What a gorgeous DAY! It was perfect, not one glitch! really!
The musical extravaganza Beach Blanket Babylon just celebrated its 30th anniversary at Club Fugazi in North Beach. Created by the late Steve Silver in 1974, it claims to be the nation’s longest running musical revue in history. Jo Schuman Silver, Steve’s widow and producer, has carried on his dream and more than 4.5 million have enjoyed it. The building is fun...and small and intimate. I have never been to the show before! Can you believe me, flamboyant me, has never seen it! It was about time that I showed up and had a great time! I so wanted to grab one of those hats and take my chances running out of the building! I chickened out, but got some GREAT ideas for a hat of my own! grins
Beach Blanket Babylon is a “zany 90 minute revue whose story line is of Snow White searching for love. It’s a hilarious spoof of pop-culture characters including Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Paris Hilton, Mayor Gavin Newsom, George W. Bush, Elvis Presley, and the Beatles to name a few, with spectacular costumes and outrageous gigantic hats and one show-stopping number after another.” And of course with the holidays there were dancing and singing Christmas trees and Swedish girls with candles on their heads! A good time was had by all! Oh and there was a Chapter of the Red Hat Society in the audience with us, they were from Pleasant Hill! Giggle That is a perfect outing for the RHS!
After the theater, we went to Burlingame for Benihauna's, and I splurged! Lobster and Filet Mignon! YUM! I have been having trouble eating...but being out with the girls helped, at least I could eat. And it was a lot of fun! The chef name badge was "You the Man!" not kidding! Way too funny!
I love watching these guys put on a show! They are quite entertaining! Really some talent! And the food was excellent...I brought some home with me...but it was fab! Today was a chance to celebrate Mitzi and Nancy's birthdays! Late but at least fun!
I'm happy to read that you got out w/ your friends and had a great time, plus indulged yourself at the restaurant. The show sounds so fabulous - you are lucky to live close enough to see things like that.
Hugs, Dee
