GAH...I spent at least 30 minutes on a post that I didn't save and it disappeared!!!!! Ok...lets start this over and SAVE periodically!
I have been working on the Hangman...it is not complete but here is my attempt at this fascinating card.
This is not a card about death but about action. Making decisions to embrace the Universe and the willingness to surrender!
It is all about surrending and being willing! Morphing into something greater than what you imagined! We understand that what we THINK we want, and what the UNIVERSE knows we want/need are two different things. It is all about balance.
What I find interesting is that some say the Hangman represents Odin a Norse God, I used him in the Strength card to represent my boyfriend since he is Swedish, and here he is unexpectantly in the Hangman! Some say Odin was depicted hanging on the leafy tree and hung for three days in order to have the gift of written word imparted upon the world. I think this is so appropriate since this is the card of maturity, stepping it up a notch, and making good choices. Since my love for my boyfriend is my first MATURE ADULT love I have experienced and it is rich and textured! How good is THAT to find out! Such balance!
Since it is about sacrifice and not the painful kind, but of our ego based ideas of control. We have to remind ourselves to be open to what life wants to give us. And not be so ridgid.
I used the words from Bombay Sapphires Lyrics, Stevie Nicks
The bright light is lying down
The earth and the sea and the sky
Is at rest with the ocean
And the days go by
They go into the seas that have no shores
Haunted by that same closed door
Looking up at skies on fire
Leaving nothing left of us
To discover
The background is of the ocean with me in a straight jacket on a trapese hanging upside down! The Viking ship and Odin, a Mer-girl an angel and fairy with a frog and stevie and top hat...not all done...but as complete as it is going to be for now.
