Today was Adventure Day! Time to take Crackers to the vet for her annual check up and my annual time to be yelled at by the vet because she is TOO FAT! I spoil her with too many seeds and then I get yelled at. Last year she had some infection on the back of her throat because of lack of vitamin A, which is being outside in the sun, and I was hoping that was all cleared up!
The ride there was fun...she went back and forth between Michael and I but would only poop on me! LOL What does that say about our relationship? Giggle...I guess I am mom, I should be used to being shit on! LOL
So we get to the office and we put her down to be weighed, and when the vet came in, Crackers walked to Michael and pressed herself against his tummy…like he was going to hide and save her from the bad man! It was so damn cute. But while in the office I was so focused I forgot to take photos!
The doctor was VERY pleased with her! She went from 490 grams to 437 grams! Score! Mom did well by not letting her eat so many seeds this last year! Whoot! And the infection will take another year to fully go away in the back of her throat, but he is VERY pleased about the way it is coming along too! I felt so good after that great bill of health! That all the hard work this last year has paid off! He was happy that she was having a really good molting as well, I was worried because she lost so many feathers, and he reassured me that she was just really healthy!
He also told me that I was right about her 6-week response to me, she was "Hormonal"! Giggle! That is why she finally bonded with Michael! Giggle! I don't feel like such a dirty dish rag thrown away now! Michael was fascinated by how the vet handled her and how she handled him. He grabbed her by the throat, and flipped her…we would NEVER be that aggressive with her! Yet when Michael told him that he finally just put his finger in her beak and said bite, and she didn’t, he said I wouldn’t have done that!
The vet has a great assistant, she held her in a towel and let her chew the towel while he worked on her, the nails, the beak, the feathers! It took too long for Crackers, and Michael thought that she was going to make us pay for it, but the vet assured us that they don’t associate us that way, that she actually thinks we are rescuing her from the vet! And sure enough, she LOVED us up after that!
What a great adventure! And now Michael wants to take her everywhere because she was such a good passenger, I am just worried because she is so afraid of people. I don’t want her stressed out. But most likely we will be going on many more adventures with her outside!
