I KNOW I've seen that book recommended recently--as in within the past week or two. (I wonder if I was or am dreaming. :) ) I'll have to see if the library has it. It sounds happy. I can always use happy.

By the way, I love the look of your journal! It looks much the same as mine. And what a sweetie pie to link to my nuttiness. :)

Carmen Richardson Rutlen

Gypsy,

Hey, it's me, Carmen, the author of "Dancing Naked...in fuzzy red slippers." I just stumbled across your blog and wow, thanks for your kind words about my book!

I'm ecstatic with how well my book has been received! Women seem to like it...a lot.

Although I've been writing all my life, this is my first book.

I had always wanted to write a book. I, like many other women had let my dream get bogged down in real life; baby diapers, working the nine to five job, doing taxes, getting the car tuned up, and picking up dog poop on the weekends. At forty-eight, I asked myself, "If not now, when?" My reply was, "Now. Write the book now."

I began gathering all my writings which were scribbled on dry cleaning receipts, deposit slips and paper napkins. My initial plan was to just organize my writings and put them on my computer. When I began to type, I couldn't get the ideas down fast enough. The book had a momentum of it's own. Within nine months I had the bulk of the book finished.

I am now fifty-five years old and the book just came out in February of this year (2004). It took seven years to get my book published.

I'm so glad I did it. Prior to writing "Dancing Naked...in fuzzy red slippers" I had begun to feel invisible. I was trying to come to terms with getting older, the onset of menopause, plus the loss of power and a special kind of yellow sunshine joy I had when I was younger.

I am now visible. I have discovered a new joy I didn't know existed.

Although I benefitted from the task, I didn't write the book for myself. I wrote "Dancing Naked...in fuzzy red slippers" for women of all ages who also might be feeling invisble. Plus, it makes people laugh. I like that...a lot.

I want to thank you again for including me in your blog...and for the kind words about my book.

Be well...and keep dancing...

Carmen

P.S. Gypsy, you have beautiful eyes! And...keep writing...it's delightful!
