The company announced that Disney died Wednesday in Newport Beach, Calif., after a yearlong bout with stomach cancer.
If the Walt Disney Studios were to have a real-life Jiminy Cricket, it
would have to be vice chairman Roy Edward Disney, son of Roy O. Disney
and nephew of Walt Disney, the Company's founders. Besides being its
conscience, Roy has also been called the "soul of the Company" because
he often looks to its past to define its future.
He once said, "The thing that distinguishes us from everybody else, and
always has and always will, is our past. The goal is to look over our
shoulder and see Snow White and Pinocchio and Dumbo standing there,
saying, 'Be this good.' We shouldn't be intimidated by them; they're an
arrow pointing someplace."
When I think "I" am an artist I see some thing like this and my mind
explodes and I sit down like a 2 year old and say to myself...I have a
lot to learn and a LONG way to go!!! OMG this is crazy good with so
many WoWzEr moments! My brain is rattled!
Intriguing for sure...I love the idea of this...Read article here. I would think this kind of moving art installation would have to be a nightmare to coordinate and pull off...looks like they did a great job!
Ah...off for a day in the Los Gatos/Santa Cruz Mountains for a little art retreat!!! What a fantastic day! It was at the Presentation Center and it is truly a peaceful and beautiful spot!!! And I got to learn from Leighanna Light, her Metal Deck, which reminded me of sorts of the Tarot Deck...in concept.
This was the write up, what artist could resist?:
In this workshop we will transform ordinary metal into a fabulous
thick, chunky, beautifully embellished deck of cards! Each student will
receive ten flat pieces of metal, playing-card size, to transform into
beautiful works of art. Each card will represent a meaningful word or
theme, which will be further explored in text on the back; upon
completion they will be bound together with wire and danglies. Learn
several surface altering techniques using patinas, rust, gesso and wax.
Join us for a fun, exciting day of creativity and inspiration! I didn't get to finish the backs in class or the dangles...mainly because I took a pretty hard fall onto my left wrist and my camera I was holding in my right...I am pretty sore and wondering if I broke it...and lucky for me my camera did not break, I was able to continue to take some pretty good photos!
I got to the class a little early to go over to store and buy some supplies! WOWZER do I love the store! Lots of fun things for this journal progress including some of the items that Teesha recommends! SO MUCH FUN! The only issue I had today was how long it took for lunch...I was dying by the time it got there and I still am a little sick.
But what a GREAT day!!!
I was so happy to get a photo with Teesha and Tracy, and Tracy said "You don't want ME in the photo!" I was like "Yes I do!!! This is a dream come true for me!" It was so much fun seeing all the art going on, it was like electric waves happening in the room! AH-MAZING! And I was delighted to get some photos with Sharen, Cindy and to just see every one playing!
I am going to have to save my pennies and get to their retreats soon!
One of my dreams has been to Meet and work with Teesha and Tracy Moore! I am so excited I can't stand it...I can barely think of sleeping tonight! All the images of journaling are snug in my head! Snort! In MY area the Masters of Illustrated Journaling are here! They are lovely people and so awesome in sharing their skills and talent and enouraging us to move through their process and come out the other end with our own journals!
The class was REALLY large! So many fantastic artists in the crowd!
AND some of my friends attended!!!! Yeah for friends and even a Flickr
Meet up!!!! I got to play with Coffeelatte who sat across from me!!!
Yippee! Fantastic time was had! DELIGHTFUL! Loretta and Sharen were in
the class too! Traci Bautista came and sat at my table too! What a
great class! The last photo is one of Teesha's pages! Some thing to
raise the bar to! ART HEADACHE!!!!! So exciting!
By the time I made it to class I was exhausted, because I don't feel good, I packed my car to be ready to go home after class. I can barely move and I look like shit. This swelling is freaking me out AND the fact that I took 2 advil pm's to help with the night pain that made me turn RED all over...I guess I am allergic to that too! So to say the least what could have been a fantastic day was one I had to concentrate to get through. And of course since I am so out of breath I am now really worried this is all about my heart.
I was sitting there at the table and a woman approached me..."Let me SEE your eyes!" I thought ok, this is really strange who is this woman! And then she said she was DEBRINA!!!! OMG I have known her online for YEARS and couldn't believe it was her! I have never seen a photo of her! LOL So I jumped up SO fast I couldn't believe I could move that good...and hugged the stuffing out of her! I was so happy to finally meet her...she is delightful! I have a collection of her art and her mom's!
I sure hope to be able to spend some quality time with her later this year...
This morning started out great! I got into my new Secret Lentil outfit! This is like an Urban outfit! I love the top
AND the bag had to have the monster on it!
Grin The monster is a SoManyIdea's creation...I love my flickr friends! I even got a GREAT RAOK from BennyLove, but she doesn't want me to share it...so only a little sharing...she sent one for Fatty Boy too! SO cute how he responded! AND as I was leaving work there were the SILLY Chickens! On the Light Pole! LOL
Then the day turned, I had to come home early because our facilities decided to have the FLOOR down stairs done, and the glue made me SICK!!!! No time off my SL though! Because I complained IN WRITING this time telling of my asthma attack, headache, dizziness, upset stomach! AND I don't feel guilty! They should NOT do that kind of work while we are there! There is balance some where...
Don't let the fear of striking out hold you back. -- Babe Ruth
This just made me feel SO happy to see Fatty SO happy!
