To make healthy decisions, we must value ourselves. We must view ourselves as being worth the time and effort to eat right and exercise. We must see the payoff of making our own needs at least as important as everyone else's. That's why, if you are "body phobic," the challenge is to turn things around and face yourself directly. Don't avoid mirrors; in fact, spend more time in front of them. Look at yourself. Really look. Can you discover some compassion for the person who resides within? Can you try to accept yourself as an imperfect human being -- just like everyone else -- who nevertheless deserves good things?
It's ironic that hating oneself for being overweight can contribute to staying that way. Lack of self-care leads to sabotaging behavior that makes everything worse. Nurturing yourself is crucial for ending this nasty cycle of self-defeat. You need to work on being your own best friend instead of your own worst enemy.
Forget the ideal and learn to love the body you have. Here are some simple tips and tools to help you get confident and make peace with your mirror image.
Well, today my Nutra-systems food arrived EARLY...I ordered it on Sunday and never dreamed it would be here today! I had plans on starting it in July. But I might as well start. So the journey begins. Tomorrow I start the program and hope for a kick start in my loosing some weight!
Today after work I spent an 1 hour and 15 minutes doing yoga, I felt invigorated and sore, so I cooked dinner and now I am heading for bed. A new beginning starts.
There is a greater amount of strength in your heart, Gypsy, which is helping you find grounding for your fluctuating emotions. You will be much more sensitive and receptive to the energy around you, so be careful. Although this may give you an edge in understanding others, it will also make you more susceptible to other people's negative energy. There are people out there who are not as they seem, and you should be careful of letting these people get too close to your heart.
DAY TWO: Celebrate the Small Stuff Okay, so are you balanced yet?
I'm kidding. Balance is not something that happens to you and then you're done. (I'm so sorry to be the bearer of bad news.) It's a perpetual process. So what that means is, you have to celebrate your successes along the way -- even if they're small. In fact, particularly if they're small. Congratulating yourself for your everyday victories not only makes you feel good; it also inspires you to keep on going. Today, your task is to take note of all the positive things that you've done or experienced since beginning this challenge. Absolutely everything counts!
